There is no doubt that we are currently living in one of the most difficult times ever known on planet earth. Uncertainty is the most compelling force we all face.

With increasing economic instability, unemployment, relationship failures and gang violence creating the themes for the evening news every day, how are we as individuals to survive?

It is difficult to hold our heads up and smile when the life we have known for many years is crumbling around us. Many of us feel like we should just call it quits, but where can we go?

The questions flow in a never ending river as we watch major changes occur daily. Can we do something about it?

Here are some tips that may be helpful to you.

  1. Recognize that what is happening is not about you. Personalizing the worldwide

situation will only make it harder to be strong yourself.

  1. Recognize that this situation is only temporary. Although it feels permanent and

may last a while, know you will get through it… and survive.

  1. Accept that your world is changing, do an assessment of all of your assets (money, physical assets, health condition, personal abilities, relationships and more).
  2. Recognize fear and its sources. Turn off the violence from your TV and newspapers. Life is still a great place to live!
  3. Relax, breathe and get yourself centered on a regular basis. If your mind and

body are overloaded with fear, you cannot think clearly.

  1. Let go and trust. You do not have to be religious to believe that there is a force much bigger than any of us. Let yourself be open to new opportunities.
  2. Work together with other people. A group is much more powerful than an individual. Combine resources and support each other.
